Summer is quickly approaching and I recently found myself back on Amazon making my yearly summer purchases for our homeschool curriculum. We’ve homeschooled year round for pretty much the entire time that we’ve homeschooled and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now is the perfect time to share with you exactly what our curriculum looks like during the summer each year. While school is much more relaxed and lighter, I try my best to only get what we need because it’s really supposed to be a time for us to unwind and just enjoy this time together as a family.
Homeschooling year round, allows my children to review what they learned the previous year, plus give them a good overview of what’s to come. So during the summer months, there’s a lot down time and we feel that keeping their brains busy is better than them sitting around doing nothing. In addition, the activities are fun and engaging. Instead of them working a full school day, they may only work on one to two pages from one of these suggested books.
Summer Bridge Activities
The Summer Bridge Activities studies up to 8th/9th grade. We started summer bridge years ago. It’s a great way to prevent summer learning loss. This workbook has all 4 subjects and all you need is about 15 minutes per day, per child. It is suggested that you work on 2 pages per day.
Summer Learning HeadStart
Summer Learning HeadStart studies up to the 9th/10th grade + college prep and features 9 weeks of activities for your and your children to enjoy.
Summer Brain Quest
Summer Brain Quest is a really fun way for your kids to work. You will receive stickers, outside activities and a summer reading list.
Highlights Summer Learning
Okay so if you’re a 80s/90s baby, then you know Highlights. I was so happy to see this come across my list. And of course, we had to try it! This workbook comes with a bonus pull-out progress poster, reward stickers, and a Certificate of Achievement!
The Summer Before…
The Summer Before Workbooks includes English and math including reading comprehension, writing, punctuation, phonics, spelling, handwriting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, word problems, time, money, fractions, geometry, irregular shapes and more.
