Share the post "Surrender To God | Submit and Trust God As A Homemaker"
At the beginning of the year, I made a post sharing and explaining my word for 2023: surrender. I prayed for weeks asking God to give me a word that would draw me closer to Him. Not realizing it would call out my true struggle. This is not something I would be able to do and it would be over an instant. But it was something I had to choose and keep choosing to do. For so long, I’ve wrestled with taking control of my life, not leaving room for God to move in my life. So, this series is about helping you understand what surrendering to God looks like. This will be hard but so worth it.
So this series comes after much needed prayer – asking God how I should share this, when I should share it and what to say when I do. Can I just say that His timing is absolutely perfect!
Who Surrenders?
To surrender spiritually means that a believer completely gives up his own will and subjects his thoughts, ideas, and deeds to the will and teachings of God (Yahweh).
Thayer’s Greek Lexicon:
Meaning word: Paradidōmi (pronounced par-ad-id’-o-mee)
1) to give into the hands (of another)
2) to give over into (one’ s) power or use
2a) to deliver to one something to keep, use, take care of, manage
KEY SCRIPTURES: Matthew 16:24-25; Galatians 2:20; Proverbs 3:5-6
Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
How to surrender?
Surrendering is a choice we have to make each day as a form of discipline. You cannot surrender without first having a relationship with God. When a relationship is established, you will begin to trust Him. From trust, you’ll listen to Him more. And from listening, you’ll learn to be obedient. You won’t even question His instructions when He speaks to you. Then the Holy Spirit in you will begin to reveal things. His plan and purpose for your life will manifest in your daily work around the home and in your life.
Just think, what if each day you wake up and BEFORE you do anything, you already surrender to God for what’s to come that day. You take note of what you need to do but you are also surrendering to Him your day because He has full reign over it. When you do that, your “Get it all done” mindset will be completely diminished because God wants you to surrender that over to him too! Getting it all done doesn’t give Him any room or allow Him to work because you have it already figured out. And when you have it all figured out, He will see that you don’t need Him and that’s where the downward effect starts kicking in.. feeling like you’re running in circles, you’re exhausted, you ran all day and didn’t prioritize your health, rest, spending time with your kids or your husband. You didn’t call that friend He put on your heart because “You were too busy”…
Surrendering to God takes a lot of effort from our end. The secret is what you permit to be the focus of your attention and thoughts. Remember that your entire life is run by your thoughts which are either submitted to Satan and the things of this world or submitted to God and heavenly things. Surrendering means that Christ is the Lord of our life and that we are willing to trust God completely. Your decision to who will be running your life will determine the course your life will take. Surrendering to God determines your success at pleasing God and the degree of God’s blessings.
